Combine softened butter, both sugars, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl or stand mixer. Beat until smooth. Add dry ingredients, excluding chocolate, and fold in chocolate chips or chunks.
Chill dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F. Use a large cookie scoop to form balls, press extra chocolate on top. Bake for 12-16 minutes until golden. Cool before serving, sprinkle with salt flakes, and enjoy!
