Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges
These are the best air fryer sweet potato wedges! They’re crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfectly seasoned and ready to eat in about 30 minutes.

If you haven’t already gotten on the air fryer bandwagon, now is the time. It makes cooking so much more hands off, cuts the cook time down by quite a bit and is the perfect way to cook potatoes. These air fryer sweet potato wedges are crispy, flavorful and are going to be a weekly staple in your household.
You can make these super thick, thin, cut into discs or cubes, whatever you like! I love to serve them with my vegan chipotle aioli or just with some ketchup on the side. They’re great as a side for my gluten free chicken caesar salad. Try my stuffed sweet potatoes next!
Why you’ll love this recipe:
- Simple ingredients: You only need a few simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen like oil, spices and sweet potatoes.
- Easy to make: These air fryer sweet potato wedges are ready in under 30 minutes!
- Nutrient packed: Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A and fiber and are the perfect side dish or appetizer. Try them with my air fryer turkey burgers!

How to make air fryer sweet potato wedges
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Wash and dry your sweet potatoes. Cut off the ends, then cut into wedge shapes. It will depend on the size of your potatoes, but I usually cut in half widthwise, then into slices and then each slice into 2-4 wedges depending on the thickness.
Add to a bowl and toss with the oil, then toss with the spices until well coated.

Spray your air fryer with oil and add the sweet potatoes in. I usually do this in two batches because they cook more evenly and crisp better when they cook in a single layer.
Air fry for 16-20 minutes or until fork tender, tossing halfway through. Repeat with the other half of the potatoes if needed.
Serve with your favorite sauces, I love ketchup, honey mustard or my chipotle aioli. Enjoy!

Serving suggestions
As far as dips go, I love good old fashioned ketchup or honey mustard, but my chipotle aioli, cilantro lime crema or even cashew queso are all so delicious with these air fryer sweet potatoes. Here’s some other dishes I love to serve these alongside!
- Vegan Caesar Salad
- Grilled chicken and massaged kale salad
- Crispy chicken cutlets with steamed broccoli
- Dipped in some gluten free beef chili
- Side with my turkey burgers or salmon patties

How to store and reheat
Once prepared, these air fryer sweet potato wedges will keep in the fridge for about 5 days. Let them cool completely, then transfer to an air tight container. I like to reheat them in the air fryer at 350 for about 3-4 minutes or until they’re warm through the center, but I’ve definitely also just eaten them cold before.
The cooked potatoes can be frozen in the freezer for up to 2 months. Let them sit at room temperature before freezing, then thaw and reheat at 300 until warm through the center.
Do I need to soak the potatoes?
No, you do not need to soak the potatoes before air frying. This is a method that is often used to get potatoes extra crispy as it can remove some of the starch. I find that seasoning them and air frying gets them plenty crispy! You can soak them for this recipe if you want, but it is not necessary. To soak sweet potatoes, place the cut wedges in water for about 30 minutes. Drain well and dry with a paper towel before seasoning and proceed with the recipe as usual.

Recipe Variations
Try different sweet potato seasoning options to adjust the flavor combinations depending on how you want to serve them! You can make them spicy, sweet, herby etc.
Maple Cinnamon: For a sweet and fall twist, swap out the existing spices for 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup, salt and about 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. You can enjoy them as is or make a little vanilla glaze and enjoy these for dessert!
Make it herby: For an herby variation, season the potatoes with garlic powder and ½ teaspoon each of dried thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper. Basil or Italian seasoning are also delicious here.
