These crispy hot honey salmon bites are the perfect quick appetizer or dinner recipe. They’re made in the air fryer and perfect as is or served with your favorite rice and veggies!
I’m back with another air fryer salmon recipe! I love my air fryer and I love salmon and these hot honey salmon bites are a total crowd pleasing recipe.
They’re breaded then air fried, then tossed in a buttery, slightly spicy and sweet hot honey sauce. They’re super crispy, easy to make and made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.

Why you’ll love this recipe
- Crispy
- Easy to make
- Gluten Free
- Dairy free friendly
Key ingredients
SALMON. I like using wild caught salmon, but anything goes. You definitely want to make sure it is fresh, not frozen since we’ll be cutting it into cubes. If it was previously frozen, just defrost fully before cooking.
BREADCRUMBS. I used gluten free breadcrumbs here, but anything goes. Make sure they are plain/unflavored and don’t have any Italian seasoning.
SPICES. Salt, pepper, garlic, paprika plus some cayenne pepper for extra spice. You can add extra cayenne if you want more of a kick.
HOT HONEY SAUCE. All you need is hot honey, some butter and spices which we’ll mix together and then coat the salmon bites in that.
How to make hot honey salmon
First, cut your salmon into roughly one inch cubes. I like to remove the skin, but you can keep it on if you prefer. To easily remove it, just pour boiling water on top of the skin and let it rest for about 30 seconds, then peel it off.
Add the salmon to a mixing bowl and toss with the olive oil.
In a small dish, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic, paprika, salt and pepper. Add the breadcrumb mixture to the salmon and toss to combine.
Add to your lightly greased air fryer in one single layer (you may need to do two batches depending on your air fryer).
Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy. Meanwhile, whisk together all ingredients for the honey sauce until smooth.
When the salmon is done, let cool for 5 minutes, then toss in the sauce, using as much or as little as you like. Serve as is or with rice and veggies. I love arugula here!
Serving suggestions
I love serving these hot honey salmon bites exactly as is for a simple appetizer. You can serve with toothpicks for easy eating!
However, if you want this more of a meal, I like serving with either rice or cauliflower rice and arugula tossed with lemon, olive oil, salt and pepper. It’s super simple but the flavors pair together really nicely.
How to store
While these air fryer hot honey salmon bites will store in the fridge for 2-3 days, they will lose their crispiness within a few hours of cooking.
My suggestion is to reheat in the air fryer to try to get some of that crisp back! It won’t be quite as crispy as it is when you first make it, but the flavors will still be delicious.
If you do plan on storing some, you can try keeping the salmon and the sauce separate to prevent any sogginess.
